Hello fellow Wikisource enthusiasts!
We are the hosting the first Wikisource Community meeting of the year on 28th January 2023 at 12 PM UTC / 5:30 PM IST (check your local time) according to the wudele poll.
The first half of the meeting will be focused on non-technical updates and conversations like events, conferences, proofread-a-thons and collaborations. The second half will be focused on technical updates and conversations, such as talking about major challenges faced by Wikisource communities, similar to the ones conducted in previous Triage meetings.
If you are interested in joining the meeting, kindly leave a message on sgill@wikimedia.org and we will add you to the calendar invite.

Editing news 2023 #1Modifica

This newsletter includes two key updates about the Editing team's work:
- The Editing team will finish adding new features to the Talk pages project and deploy it.
- They are beginning a new project, Edit check.
Talk pages project
The Editing team is nearly finished with this first phase of the Talk pages project. Nearly all new features are available now in the Beta Feature for Eines de Discussió.
It will show information about how active a discussion is, such as the date of the most recent comment. There will soon be a new "Afegeix un tema" button. You will be able to turn them off at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing-discussion. Please tell them what you think.
An A/B test for Eines de Discussió on the mobile site has finished. Editors were more successful with Eines de Discussió. The Editing team is enabling these features for all editors on the mobile site.
New Project: Edit Check
The Editing team is beginning a project to help new editors of Wikipedia. It will help people identify some problems before they click "Publica els canvis". The first tool will encourage people to add references when they add new content. Please watch that page for more information. You can join a conference call on 3 March 2023 to learn more.

La Fundació Wikimedia posarà a prova el canvi entre els seus centres de dades primari i secundari. Això garantirà que la Viquipèdia i les altres wikis de Wikimedia romanguin disponibles fins i tot si es produeix un desastre. Per a assegurar que tot funcioni, el Departament de Tecnologia de Wikimedia necessita realitzar una prova planificada. Aquesta prova demostrarà si és possible canviar d'un centre de dades a l'altre amb fiabilitat. Calen molts equips per preparar la prova i estar a punt per reparar qualssevol problemes que puguin produir-s'hi.
Tot el trànsit es durà el 1 de març. La prova començarà a les 14:00 UTC.
Malauradament, a causa de limitacions de MediaWiki cal limitar la possibilitat d'editar durant el canvi. Ens disculpem per aquesta disrupció, i estem treballant per minimitzar-la en el futur.
Durant una estona, podreu llegir, però no pas editar les wikis durant una estona breu.
- No podreu editar durant com a màxima una hora el dimecres 1 de març 2023.
- Si proveu d'editar o desar canvis durant aquestes interrupcions, veureu un missatge d'error. Esperem que no es perdi cap edició durant aquest període de temps, però no us ho podem garantir. Si veieu el missatge d'error, espereu fins que tot torni a funcionar. Llavors hauríeu de poder desar la vostra edició. Tot i així, us recomanem que primer feu una còpia dels vostres canvis, per si un cas.
Altres efectes:
- Els treballs automàtics de rerefons aniran més lents, i alguns es podrien aturar. Potser els enllaços vermells no s'actualitzaran tan ràpidament com és habitual. Si creeu un article que ja ha estat enllaçat en algun altre lloc, l'enllaç pot mantenir-se en vermell més estona de l'habitual. Alguns scripts de llarga durada s'hauran d'aturar.
- Esperem que les implementacions de codi es produeixin com qualsevol altra setmana. No obstant això, algun codi concret es podria congelar puntualment si l'operació ho requereix.
- GitLab no estarà disponible durant uns 90 minuts.
